Day 6 & 7 Beijing

We've spent the last 2 days being busy tourists around Beijing. It was a relief to get here after spending 5 days in province. Our hotel has lost of people from all over the world so we aren't quite sticking out as much anymore. The hotel in Beijing is beautiful and I actually wish we had a few more days to spend here in Beijing. We were hoping to do some fun shopping tonight but Charlie fell asleep as soon as we got out of the hotel. We went back to the room with our first experience with Chinese McDonald's.

It the 2 days we saw the Temple of Heaven, Tiananmen  Square,  The National Museum, Great Wall, The Olympic Village, and 2 "factories" that make Chinese crafts. It was a lot to pack in in 2 days, especially with a little one. We were happy to find out that there is another family here too right now and we've enjoyed spending the last 2 days touring with them. Here are a few of the things we got to see.

We had great weather for the Great Wall. It was warm and sunny.  The stair were a little too steep and I kept Charlie down low while Jim was able to climb pretty high and get some great pictures.

Charlie passed out around 6 pm...he's exhausted!
Tomorrow we are leaving Beijing for the last portion of the trip. We will be in Guangzhou for the rest of our stay. We are several appointments that we need to complete there in order to complete our adoption on the US side of things. Earlier this week,  the consulate was closed for an emergency and they will remain closed the rest of the week. I am really hoping they will reopen in time for our Monday morning appointment. There are many families currently waiting for the same thing right no in GZ and many have had to delay their trips back home. Hopefully we will get more news from our agency when we arrive there tomorrow. If all goes according to schedule we will be able to leave on Wednesday the 22.
